Mallory's PledgePage for Honduras Trip!

This summer I'll be going to Honduras for about three weeks with a student organization called HEAL International. HEAL stands for Health Equality Activism and Leadership.

We strive to understand and improve health care access and health education in marginalized populations through community involvement, fundraising, and travel. We focus our efforts exclusively on family health around Copan Ruinas, Honduras and Los Angeles, CA.

Over the summer, we will be working with Life to Life Honduras to set up a family health clinic. This clinic will be unique in its welcoming and non discriminatory atmosphere. In addition to providing standard medical are, the clinic will also train midwives in healthy and effective childbirth procedures that will allow women in remote communities to receive adequate care.

During the school yea we participate in community health events such as AIDS Walk LA, mobile health clinics, and the Camp Laurel AIDS bike ride. This year we are really looking forward to expanding the volunteer opportunities we are involved in as student organization. We also actively fundraise as a group for Life to Honduras, our organization, and to mitigate the cost of the summer trip.

We are all so excited about going to Honduras together to help get this clinic going! I truly appreciate all your support!

Thank you so much!
